About Ironworld
Ironworld is the largest museum complex in the region, and Minnesota's largest museum outside the Twin Cities metro area. Our mission is To collect, preserve, interpret and promote the history and cultural heritage of northeastern Minnesota; and to manage, promote, sustain and develop the assets of Ironworld for the long-term benefit of area residents and visitors. As the Minnesota iron mining industry exploded at the turn of the century, people seeking economic prosperity and freedom immigrated to northern Minnesota from nations around the globe. These immigrants brought few material goods on their journey, but carried with them rich traditions and customs of their homelands. Ironworld preserves this important period of American history by telling the story of the life, the work, the place and the people of the Iron Range, using our permanent collections and exhibit space as well as a 3,000 square-foot gallery dedicated to changing exhibits. We also develop programming and events that tie into our mission, collections and exhibits.
Tour Ironworld's museum, sample ethnic cuisine, ride a vintage trolley back in time to the historic Glen location and see spectacular views of an open pit mine.
Join us on a memorable journey through northeastern Minnesota's history...
