Manuscripts and Maps Archivist

Ironworld, a museum located in Chisholm, MN, seeks a Manuscripts and Maps Archivist.

The Manuscripts and Maps Archivist is a member of a professional team that develops, organizes and coordinates the archives collections of Ironworld's research library, the Iron Range Research Center. As the research arm of a museum facility, the Research Center serves a diverse user group who may be on site or remote. The primary objective of this position is to manage archival systems that improve access to collections and expand opportunities for museum education.

This position also is responsible for the care and management of the paper collections of the archives, those being primarily government records, manuscripts and maps; identifying, organizing, describing, cataloging and creating finding aids to items and images; and preservation planning and content support for museum exhibit initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications
To be considered you must have
a Masters Degree from an American Library Association accredited school of Library and Information Science with an emphasis in archival practice or management; experience with collections processing; experience with archives reference; and
experience with map collections.

Preferred Qualifications
Certified Archivist; familiarity with Minnesota history, or the history of labor, mining and immigration.
